Better nursery food demanded (Nurseryworld)

‘More than 3,370 people have signed a petition calling for the Government to put nutritional standards in place for nurseries.

The campaign, called Better Nursery Food Now, was launched in October by food company Organix and the Soil Association after a report found that some nurseries were spending just 25p per child on a meal (News, 22 October). Campaigners want the Government to adopt the Caroline Walker Trust’s guidelines for children under five, and for a minimum of 50p to be spent for every nursery child’s lunch. Joanna Quinn, PR manager for Organix, said, ‘The number of signatures is always increasing, which is very encouraging.’
